How would you like to come to Washington to present your research? Pi Sigma Alpha wants you to join us the fifth annual Undergraduate Student Research Conference. The conference provides a platform for Pi Sigma Alpha members to present their research findings in a professional setting with opportunity for engagement with peers in the heart of Washington, DC.
Students exploring topics across political science are welcome to submit proposals. This includes the many subfields that make up the discipline (American Politics, International Relations, Political Philosophy, Public Policy, and more). Panels will be created based on available paper topics and graduate students from Georgetown, George Washington, and the University of Maryland will serve as panel chairs and discussants..
Interested students should complete the online proposal submission form by December 1, 2018. Notification of acceptance will be made December 20 2018. Final papers will be due by January 28, 2019. Please only submit a proposal if you are able to attend the conference.
The event kicks off with a reception on Friday, February 15 in the evening and will include local Pi Sigma Alpha members working in Washington who will be available to talk about jobs and life in DC. During the day on February 15 we will have the option for a number of small tours. These will be first come first serve and might include a Behind the Scenes Look at the US Capitol Building, A Visit to the Library of Congress, and more. Full details will be available in the fall.
Conference participants pay no registration fee and are provided breakfast and lunch on Saturday, February 17. There will be a block of hotel rooms at which participants may reserve a room for discounted rate.
On Sunday, February 18 a series of professional development workshops and training sessions will be held.
Past participants have received near full financial support from their institution. Before you apply speak with your faculty advisor about how to apply for departmental or institutional funds to support your travel.
